Eating well in La Caletta and beyond: the restaurants I recommend!

Here, then, is a list (which is not a ranking) of the best restaurants in La Caletta.

Being on holiday certainly means seeking relaxation, unplugging, and enjoying every moment, but this certainly does not mean giving up good food.
Every time I travel, in fact, I ask myself where I could most easily find the flavours that identify the place where I am at that moment, and increasingly I rely on those who live that place every day. That is why this Guide to the best restaurants in La Caletta. (and not only) was created, so that you can rely on those who were born and raised here.

A premise is in order: there is a risk that you will not stop eating.

In fact, Sardinia is a land still tied to many centuries-old traditions, and it is very easy that in many restaurants and agritourisms you can find shepherd's cheeses and cold cuts, catch of the day (a few steps away from the restaurant), and meat from local shepherds.

Every mouthful, you breathe in authenticity. Or at least, this guide was created with that in mind.

Show you the ones that, in my opinion, fulfil this premise and promise.

So which restaurants to eat at in La Caletta?

Here are all the addresses I recommend for tasting typical Sardinian products in the hope of satisfying everyone's palate.

Locanda Fuffuraju

The first of the restaurants in La Caletta. I will tell you about is Locanda Fuffuraju.

Especially if you are staying at My Charming House, e sei rimasto a goderti il tramonto in spiaggia fino a tardi e sei troppo affamato per allontanarti troppo, questo posto è l’ideale per te.

It's literally a stone's throw away from the flat and offers a few, but simple dishes that taste really great.

My favourite? Fregola ai frutti di mare. 

A real treat.

*If, like me, you are a suckling pig lover, however, be warned. It has to be reserved and this is a warning I will make often throughout this article and which I generally recommend at almost every restaurant if you really want to try it.

Opening hours: Monday to Sunday lunch 12:30-14:30, and dinner 19:30-23:00

Sa Tanca e Bore

An agritourism closely linked to the territory. Here you can taste a typical Sardinian menu from every angle.From starter to dessert, it is a gastronomic journey through Sardinian culinary culture.

Here in fact you cannot choose what to eat, only a tasting menu will be served.

Like everything else, this too has its pros and cons.

You might not agree with taking an entire menu, but on the other hand you know for sure that this practice guarantees constant product freshness and excellent service.

E qui, il maialetto non va prenotato. Here, you will see it rotating on the spit throughout the dinner. 

If you stay several days in the area of La Caletta and Siniscola, I recommend you try it at least once. It will be a mouth-watering experience.

Don't be scared off by the entrance, which is a bit hidden and not in great condition. But fear not. Both the place and the menu will make you reconsider any possible doubts.

Deamama

Uno degli ultimi arrivati sulla scena culinaria di La Caletta, Deamama ha aperto le sue porte nel novembre 2023 e si è rapidamente affermato tra i ristoranti top della zona.
Questo locale è una perfetta combinazione di eleganza e relax, con un’attenzione particolare alla qualità del cibo e alla cura dei dettagli nei sapori, negli abbinamenti, nei colori e nelle composizioni. La cucina a vista con vetrate offre uno spettacolo culinario mentre si gustano i piatti.

Durante la nostra visita, abbiamo scelto due antipasti dal menù:

• Tartare di tonno con tocchetti di mango
• Gamberi in crosta di pane carasau con verdure croccanti

A seguire, ci siamo affidati ai consigli di Luciana, la proprietaria e capo sala, optando per un primo e un secondo piatto del giorno fuori menù:

• Ravioli con ripieno di scorfano, cozze e vongole e crema di zucchine
• Filetto di cernia in crosta di patate con salsa allo zenzero e cipolla caramellata

Semplicemente D E L I Z I O S I!

Ogni piatto è una scoperta di sapori unici and ben bilanciati.

Il mio consiglio: scegli questo posto, fidati e affidati. Non rimarrai deluso.

Sa Corte

If, after a long day, you want to relax and enjoy a stroll along the seafront, then Santa Lucia is a great place to visit on at least one of your evenings.

Here you will breathe in a calm, light atmosphere and the sound of the sea in the background.

In the places present if you want to stop and enjoy an excellent dinner, the one I recommend is Sa Corte.

Rustic but elegant location, friendly and knowledgeable staff and mouth-watering dishes.

Even here the suckling pig (to safeguard the freshness of the product) can only be eaten if booked in advance. So I recommend that if you want to taste some excellent Sardinian porcetto just a stone's throw from the sea, a phone call is what will save your dinner.

E’ vero però che se la carne è ottima, a farla da padrone è sicuramente il pesce. Sempre fresco e dal profumo veramente speciale.

Ti consiglio la Frittura fresca di mare che già il nome ti fa capire essere composta dal pescato del giorno.

Karamare

Starting from my Charming House, you will definitely need a car to get around. But believe me, a few minutes and it will be worth it.

This is a different venue from those I have recommended so far. Less traditional and more innovation-oriented. Definitely among the top of the list of the best restaurants in La Caletta..

The name Karamare suggests that you will be dining 'seafront' and that the dishes will be mainly fish.

If you want to enjoy fresh fish cooked with attention to detail, you are in the right place.

My favourite dish? This time it's a starter and I recommend you absolutely try the Mixed Seafood Tasting Board.

Su Meriacru

It seemed only right to make a gentle return to meat. Su Meriacru is in fact a family-run agriturismo nestled between Sardinian stones and myrtle plants.

Traditional cuisine with tasting menus on the one hand and gourmet cuisine on the other.

Con un po’ di fortuna e po’ di silenzio è molto probabile che ancora prima di entrare nel ristorante troverai dei cuccioli di cinghiale e asinelli gironzolare tra le vie.

Sintomo di tranquillità, pace e genuinità del prodotti.

Se il tuo desiderio è assuefarti completamente dei sapori sardi allora in questo caso ti consiglio l’intero Menù Degustazione.

Recentemente la cucina si sta modificando in chiave innovativa, pertanto saranno presenti due menù tra cui scegliere: 

– menù degustazione (quello “tradizionale“)
– menù innovazione (piatti tipici “rivisitati“)

Qualunque sarà il menù che sceglierai, sarà un viaggio nei profumi e nei sapori di una terra incontaminata.

The highlight? Piglet (with super crispy crust) with myrtle scent. A second variation on the classic spit roast.

Opening hours: Every day 12:30 - 14:00 and 19:30 - 21:00

Il Moletto Ostricheria Grill

A true institution. The place you absolutely cannot miss.

The only way to get there is by car, because you have to go to Cape Comino to get there, but every metre you take in its direction will be rewarded with an extraordinary evening.

The venue is literally a stone's throw from the shore. You can have an aperitif (which I absolutely recommend) amidst the sand dunes just a few metres away, excellent cocktails, soft sounds and the sunset in front of you, with the sun setting over the sea just as you are enjoying the last drops of a very fresh, well-balanced cocktail.

Dinner time has arrived and you only have to walk up a few steps to enter the restaurant area.

And here what can I say. The owner of the restaurant, as well as the chef, is totally obsessed with the freshness of the ingredients and that is why here (if you are also a raw food lover) I strongly recommend you try the tartare on offer.

IMy favourite dish? Sardinian fregola whipped with Parmesan cheese, with Egg Pochè, potato mousse, toasted bacon.

There is little more to add. Only to try.

Il Talismano

A quiet evening. With the family. Among simple flavours and linked to the land.

This is what Il Talismano represents. A rustic restaurant, but with good food.

Cosy and with a family atmosphere.

What's more, not only the entire dining room but also a beautiful outdoor terrace where you can enjoy various fish and meat dishes.

Here, as in many other restaurants (almost all those that are not also agritourisms) if you already have a desire to try the Sardinian suckling pig then you will have to book it a little in advance.

The dish I recommend? Sor Maccarrones de punzu (Sardinian gnocchetti with Campidanese sausage tomato sauce)

L’Ostrica

Definitely the most classic of restaurants of La Caletta that I have recommended so far, but among the top 10 restaurants in the area it could not fail to be included.

This is a restaurant that I recommend especially for a family lunch or dinner and if you don't want to move too far from my Charming House.

In this restaurant you will not find a romantic atmosphere for couples, but you will find a warm and light atmosphere to make even the youngest guests feel good.

The restaurant is definitely based on a fish menu and a catch that is always fresh.

I especially recommend the Frittura di Calamari e Gamberi or the Pescato Vario del giorno.
